Dr. Seuss

Unlike most retired people, because he loved and enjoyed doing it, Ted still put in eight hours each day writing and drawing. On his eightieth birthday, Random House threw him a party at the New York Library.

The beloved Dr. Seuss died on September 24, 1991 in his home. He had suffered one heart attack and several bouts of throat cancer. In 1978 and 1980, he underwent cataract surgeries on his eyes. After his death, notes of sympathy poured in from all over the country.
